An Evangelical approach which includes useful word studies and takes the historical record seriously.
This commentary is particularly strong in exposition, giving a detailed examination of the meaning of the original Hebrew text.
On interpretive issues, Howard typically outlines the problem, looks at a range of alternative views, and then explains why he opts for his own conclusion. This works well - you are neither left swimming in a morass of possibilities, nor straight-jacketed into one favoured solution.
