BTR Review
Provan is interested in the narrative techniques of Kings, particularly ‘patterning’. Asa is patterned after the character of Solomon (but without the blessing of empire-preservation). Jeroboam is patterned after Moses; Manasseh and Jehoiakim are patterned after Ahab; and Jesus is patterned after Solomon and Elisha.
Provan does not discuss/is not particularly interested in historical/archeological approaches.
